Ventureprise is UNC Charlotte’s innovation and entrepreneurship center serving the UNC Charlotte campus and Charlotte region. As one of 80 National Science Foundation I-Corps sites, recipient of a 2016 NC IDEA ecosystem grant and creator of the Charlotte Entrepreneur Growth Report, Ventureprise serves as a center of excellence for evidence based entrepreneurship. By offering three core programs focusing on customer discovery and business model generation; the Ventureprise Launch NSF I-Corps program to faculty and students at UNC Charlotte and surrounding campuses, Ventureprise Launch NC IDEA program to Charlotte and western North Carolina innovation-based startups and 49er Foundry Incubator for UNC Charlotte students, Ventureprise works to provide the resources and expertise for university and community base startups to get to the next level of business formation, scaling or funding. Its programs primarily target innovation-driven entrepreneurs, university researchers, and university students interested in entrepreneurship.
Ventureprise organizes the annual Charlotte Venture Challenge, supports technology commercialization through customer discovery as a National Science Foundation I-Corps Site, and operates a student business incubator, 49er Foundry, for UNC Charlotte students.
Students (undergraduate and graduate) and emerging entrepreneurs from the Carolinas and adjacent states compete annually in the Charlotte Venture Challenge (www.charlotteventurechallenge.com) organized by UNC Charlotte and Ventureprise.
Ventureprise manages the National Science Foundation I-Corps Site at UNC Charlotte. This evidence-based entrepreneurship and customer discovery focused program is open to qualified UNC Charlotte researchers. Three cohorts are offered annually, fall, spring and summer. I-Corps is designed to both accelerate commercialization progress and to increase the commercialization understanding of faculty and students. UNC Charlotte was the first I-Corps Site in the Carolinas.

Ventureprise was awarded an NC IDEA ecosystem grant to bring the Ventureprise Launch customer discovery program to early-stage, innovation-driven startups in Charlotte and western North Carolina. The curriculum takes early stage entrepreneurs through customer discovery and business model generation activities modeled after the National Science Foundation Innovation Corps (NSF I-Corps). Ventureprise operates a NSF I-Corps Site for university technology commercialization and is trained to offer the curriculum.
