Animal Care & Use

New IACUC Application Form & Instruction

The UNC Charlotte’s Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) is the committee responsible for ensuring the protection and care of vertebrate animals being used in research studies at UNC Charlotte. The IACUC is charged with this task while facilitating animal research in ways consistent with long-standing ethical principles and federal, state and university regulations.

The IACUC works in conjunction with the Compliance Office to ensure that the oversight and protection of animals used in research is done in an efficient and user-friendly way.

In addition to Animal Care and Use guidelines and regulation information, this site will provide you access to the tools you need to make it easier to successfully prepare and submit your protocol applications.

In this website, you will find: guidelines for submitting your application; our new on-line IACUC Protocol Application (ACAP); a schedule of IACUC meeting dates and deadlines; templates required for Pain & Distress explanation, use of biohazardous agents and recombinant DNA; background materials on federal regulations; and links to other sites which we have reviewed and found helpful.

We encourage you to call on the Compliance Office staff early in the review process for advice on how to submit a protocol that can be acted on with as little delay as possible.
