Charlotte entrepreneurs graduating from the City Startup Labs program took the stage to pitch their businesses last night. The budding entrepreneurs pitched eight business ideas to a panel of judges looking for five winning ideas. The five winning ventures received cash prizes, co-working space at HQ Charlotte, tech and legal support, as well as a spot in City Startup Labs’ final phase of the program — the incubator module. The Office of Research Compliance (ORC) is pleased to announce the upcoming implementation of an online IRB protocol application submission and administrative system.  Beginning September 6, 2016, researchers may submit IRB protocol applications online using IRBIS.  Researchers who have used the NORM (research proposals and award management) and AIR (conflict of interest disclosure) systems may find that IRBIS “looks and feels” very similar as all of these systems were developed by UNC Chapel Hill.  In addition to protocol application submission, researchers will be able to...

GOM Opens Office in UNC Charlotte's Portal

GOM is a global industrial manufacturer that develops and produces optical measurement solutions and technologies for 3D coordinate measurement and deformation analysis. GOM‘s measuring systems are based on digital image processing and are used in product development, quality assurance, material and component testing.  GOM Americas Inc. recently opened an office in Portal, UNC Charlotte's Industry-University Partnership Facility. The office will work closely with GOM ’s regional partners to provide equipment servicing and repairs for the Americas.
